Developed using steam extrusion technology, Tru Beet™ is an unmolassed beet pulp nugget that transforms into a soft fibre mash in seconds. The extrusion process reorganises the fibre structure, allowing rapid water absorption and near-instant softening, offering a practical alternative to traditional soaked beet pulp.

Beet pulp is widely recognised as one of the most valuable fibre ingredients in equine nutrition, providing highly digestible soluble fibre to support hindgut fermentation and normal digestive function. Tru Beet™ builds on this with a format designed to improve feeding efficiency while maintaining nutritional integrity.

Suitable for horses of all ages and disciplines

Suitable for horses of all ages and disciplines, Tru Beet™ features a low sugar and low starch profile to support metabolic stability. The soft mash consistency makes it ideal for senior horses or those with dental challenges, while also offering a safe fibre source for horses prone to gastric ulcers. As a slow-release energy source, it supports consistent performance throughout the day.

Hydration is a key benefit. With water forming around 70 percent of a horse’s body, maintaining fluid intake is essential for digestion, nutrient absorption and thermoregulation. Tru Beet™ absorbs water almost immediately, encouraging intake while delivering a nutrient-rich mash that integrates easily with grains, fortified feeds and supplements. When soaked at a ratio of four parts water to one part Tru Beet™, the product expands to four times its original weight.

Hygain CEO Peter Weaver said the product reflects the brand’s continued focus on innovation.

“Tru Beet™ represents a step forward in fibre feeding. By combining the proven benefits of beet pulp with advanced processing techniques, we are delivering a solution that supports digestive health while also making feeding more efficient,” he said.
