Following results earlier at the event, Billy Raymont (Caprino), Jamie Winning-Kermond (Tulara Wat Colblensky), Tom McDermott (Oaks Ventriloquist), and Jack Barker (Bellhaven Calisco) were selected for the Australian team, which finished in 11th place.
Jamie Winning-Kermond on Tulara Wat Colblensky and Tom McDermott with Oaks Ventriloquist produced the team’s strongest performances across the two rounds of competition.
Jamie and Tulara Wat Colblensky opened with just a single time penalty in the first round, crossing the timers in 76.79 seconds. Tom and Oaks Ventriloquist matched that effort almost exactly, finishing on one time penalty with a time of 76.59 seconds.
The Nations Cup was no doubt great for experience-building, especially for a team of combinations who were all competing on Australian soil six months ago – or in some cases, much less.
These combinations again proved Australia’s most consistent combinations in the second round. Jamie and Tulara Wat Colblensky added five penalties and stopped the clock in 76.57 seconds, while Tom and Oaks Ventriloquist also finished on five penalties and stopped the clock in 76.23 seconds.
Outside of the Nations Cup, Jack Barker and Oaks Cryptic delivered impressive performances to finish 10th in the CSIO3* Prix Laca Pellets (1.40m Against the Clock) and 12th in the CSIO3* Prix Demeures de Campagne (1.40m Two Phase). In the latter, the pair jumped two clear rounds and stopped the clock in 36.73 seconds, finishing just three seconds behind the class winner in a tightly contested field.
