Alicia Ryan short-listed for Sweden ahead of the World Young Horse Championships

Australian dressage rider Alicia Ryan has been named on Sweden’s short-list for the 2026 FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses in Verden (5-9 August) with six-year-old stallion Morricello II VH.

The combination represented Sweden at last year’s Championships in the five-year-old division, where they scored an 8 for canter, 7.8 for perspective, 7.5 for walk, 7.5 for submission, and 7.2 for trot, receiving a total of 76% and placing 25^th in the Preliminary Test.

Morricello II VH is by Morricone (Millennium) out of Floricella VH (Marburg’s Floricello OLD), and is bred and owned by Västra Hoby Stuteri AB.

Based on the size of its studbook, Sweden is eligible to send four combinations (plus two reserves) per age category to the Championships. Alicia and Morricello II VH are one of eight combinations short-listed for the six-year-old division.

Alicia has previously represented Australia at the 2023 Championships with her own mare, Merricks Sonique, in the seven-year-old class.

Jessica Dertell and Osaka P have already been named as Australian representatives for the 2026 Championships in the seven-year-old class, with the five- and six-year-old representatives yet to be announced.
