Tetrathlon is a discipline designed to promote well-rounded riders by incorporating running, swimming, shooting, and riding – and Yandina & District Pony Club was actually the first club in its region to introduce it as a discipline.
2026 Pony Club International Tetrathlon Exchange included teams from Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand and mixed international combinations competing across four phases, with the final team standings incredibly close.
Girls’ teams
United Kingdom – 17,500
Ireland – 17,469
Mixed International Team 2 – 16,487
Australia – 16,268
Mixed International Team 1 – 16,035
New Zealand – 12,999
Boys’ teams
Ireland – 17,705
United Kingdom – 17,156
Australia – 16,745
Mixed International Team – 15,893

Australia was proudly represented by Emma Wiese, Darcy Miller, Chloe Leen, Tessa Leen and Emily Maxwell in the girls’ team, and Campbell Black, Oliver Homer, Hayden Taylor, Dan Wiese and William Nieuwenhuis in the boys’ team, supported by Coach Darcy Wade and Team Manager Sharon Hutton.
Abbey Coxon and Emma Grave also represented Australia in Mixed International Team 1, alongside riders from Ireland and New Zealand, while Ryan Frantom competed in the Mixed International Boys’ Team with athletes from Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Certificates were also presented to every competitor who achieved a clear round in the showjumping phase, recognising the skill and adaptability required to ride unfamiliar horses.
The exchange now moves to the Gold Coast, where Mudgeeraba Pony and Hack Club will host the second leg of competition.
Congratulations to every athlete on a fantastic opening weekend of competition. Well done to Yandina & District Pony Club, the generous horse owners, volunteers and supporters who helped make the Sunshine Coast leg such a success.
